It isn't allowed to go searching here anymore because of health and safety. I remember many years ago going to scrap yards with OH while he searched for the required part on a scrap car. nowadays we still have scrap yards, but the cars are stripped by the employees and you buy the part over the counter

If it is something they normally wouldn't sell, you can ask if they have that car and they will get the part for you if the car hasn't already been crushed

I haven't been out today, the white frost hasn't lifted at all today, the lawn is white not green

We have a Pick a Part here too. I like the gardening section of Bunnings. I've been to the recycling centre with OH on occasion.

People were amused when I said that OH had taken me to Pick a Part (a lot full of wrecked cars and you go searching for what you want) .. it costs $1 to get in... and they often let you just take stuff for nothing or a minimal amount.

and Bunnings was like a second home, we came past it one afternoon and I started to turn (as the passenger) in my seat towards the driveway and we drove past.. so used to it am I.

Sounds like a plan. They love doing the same thing - going around recycling centers and Bunnings :-D

There is one lot of capers in it that I giggled and laughed so much at it.
The woman that was sitting next to me had the air of being Jamaican or maybe even North African.. anyway she was very dark skinned.. When she was walking along to her seat ( we were all given numbered seats and this had us sitting in little groups around the theatre.. not a go and sit where you like that I am used to) OH said to me, she is probably from darkest Peru.

Right near the end of the credits we saw where the Peruvian scenes were screened in Costa Rica.

It's glorious outside, Linda.

We have Drew today as his mum is working. The first thing he said when he saw me was "where's Grandad?" :-D

I think we will go and see Paddington- it's getting a lot of good reviews.

It was a lovely day yesterday until around 3pm when we had a wild rain storm that lasted all of 10 minutes. It was windy and we even had hail which is a little unusual for this area. Strangely my son rang from Hobart and they had a similar short but savage storm.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 29 Dec 2014 21:39

Hello Persie, I definitely want to see Paddington

Persephone

Persephone Report 29 Dec 2014 21:24

Hate that low sun in your eyes, and the sunvisor thingy on the car does not prevent the bit that is bound to blind you between the mirror and it or just below it.. or the sun glints off the back window of the car in front and is equally as hazardous. When I was working I used to have a peaked cap lying on the back seat for these occasions, certainly made driving easier.

And Paddington, was wonderful we were concerned that there might be a lot of yelling children in the theatre but there were not that many people there and I would say there were more adults than children. We have a boxed set of Paddington books, I gave them to OH when he turned 25. I had not long started reading about him myself. I had seen the trailer of it when I looked on the net for the times it was showing.

Although it is frost free along this strip of coast, you only have to get as far as Dolthingy and it turns into a winter wonderland.
Very pretty, but dodgy driving conditions.

I think it will be wet and windy from Thursday on.

It is supposed to be getting warmer,so it is wise of your brother to put his visit off
