Now, are we talking about respect through fear? Respect through achievement or respect as common decency toward a fellow human being?

I would like the latter. People don't have to like me, but if they are civil toward me I'll be civil back.

It's nice to be liked, but as long as my nearest and dearest can still love me, that's all that really matters.

I think i'll be prefer to be liked. I get the mickey taken out of me anyway.

Just thinking as I chopped mint lol , there are people in life who I have an instinctive antipathy towards ( mutual I am certain lol) but nonetheless respect their ability / knowledge in specific areas , enough to over-ride my personal feelings . (if I thought they could help someone I would recommend them kind of thing.)

which led me to the thought, would I rather be respected or liked? ( both preferably of course lol)
