Now he is an elderly man, in hospital just up the road from me, ailing, and with penumonia, a broken hip and possible a broken vertebra.

While I agree he should serve his term, he is now ill and frail, absolutely no threat to society, and will probably die soon. Surely as a human being he should have just a little bit of dignity on his deathbed? He needs his family around him, they need to be around him. I see no point in keeping him in prison any longer.

I am in two minds lol. I wouldn't want him being freed 'to die' to become a precedent for freeing just any prisoner with poor health.

But, given Biggs role in the robbery, I think that a degree of clemency should be given now. Had it been someone else, or rather another type of crime ( Brady, , Sutcliffe etc you get the jist) then my opinion would have been definitely not.

He had many years of freedom living the life of Riley, leave him where he is. If you cannot do the time don't do the crime.

So , Ronnie Biggs is to spend the rest of his natural behind bars
Shame cry the prison reformists, shame cry the hand wringing liberals.
HE's old, he's had x number of strokes.let im go
This is the man who took the P***s out of the judicial system whlle enscosed in Rio, flaunted the law, and basicaly said "catch me i you can"
So when he started ailing his first shout was take me back to Britain where i will be looked after not here in South America .
Has Justice been done .
