Jessie aka Maddies mate Report 6 May 2009 20:07

Hi all

Yesterday Dad was great, he was sat in a chair and seemed very bright and not at all confused, he said that he felt great.
Today is a different story, confused again and sleeping a lot, he said he felt "rough" but couldn;t explain why, he did say he had some stomach pain and that he just wanted to sleep.

Doctor says he is having good and bad days and they are monitoring this closely as it can give a false sense of his actual condition

They have said based on how he is now that he won't be coming home unless they could get 24 hour nursing care in place which is unlikely whilst he can recieve the care in the hospice.

Will now see what tomorrow brings !!

Hope your Dad can find the strength to go on a little longer, if it's going to be a hot summer you will need all his advice on his garden lol

My Dad came home from the hospice for a while when he had lung cancer, and we were given a few more weeks with him, so hope it's the same for you and your Dad, Jessie. They are wonderful places, and if he has to go back in, he knows not to be afraid and will feel it is familiar to him at these difficult times.
Positive thoughts,

My thoughts and love are with you and your Dad Jessie,

I know how it feels ,like your dad my brother fought for 3 long years against the Big C .
So brave , still had his sence of humour.
May your dad pass peacefully

Thanks Guys

I no I shouldn't build my hopes up but maybe just maybe he can fight a bit longer and come home for a bit.

There is nothing I would like more than one more summer sat in the garden with him - or should I say him sat there telling me how to cut his grass lol

So glad that today was a good one for you and your Dad. It is a memory that you will be able to look back on and smile at the thought of him sitting up in bed eating his ice-cream.

Hi everyone

Just back from the hospice - and what did we find..................

My Dad sat up ( in bed ) eating Sunday dinner followed by Ice cream, and a cup of tea !!!!!!!

The Nurses were amazed and say he must be one hell of a strong bloke as they gave him 2 to 5 days last Thursday.

This may be the lull before the storm - but whatever it is it was nice and lovely to see him awake, smiling and eating however short lived it may be.
