Afraid Daff will not be home this w/end. This morning she suffered ventricular fibrillation - stops the heart pumping blood around the body - and is currently sedated and on a ventilator in Intensive Care.
Fortunately this happened when one of the nursing auxiliaries was stood next to her, and her recognition of what was happening and subsequent actions have probably prevented any damage to Daff from loss of oxygen. Time will tell.
Low potassium is possibly the cause, and this can be rectified, but there are now many more avenues that IC medics will investigate before the cause is isolated, and it may be the result of more than just one 'thing'.
Sri to be the bearer of more not so good news.

Take care.

I expect the docs are giving Daff some diuretics, so she will need to be on the move a bit quick! Will hope for everyones sake that she is allowed a break at home at the weekend. Call it compassionate leave!

Good morning Daff and all and so glad you have started eating and fingers crossed you will be home for the weekend! Mr D I hope you have found the freezer (that large white expressionless object in the corner) where I am sure Daff has left loads of goodies for you to eat. Don't worry about the cats, they will start behaving impeccably as soon as they see Daff! lol

Of to practice with my spud gun in the park.

MrDaff Report 21 Oct 2010 22:06

Okay - today then...infection is retreating by the looks of it (poss the threat of various forms of knicker elastic...), but there is still concern over respiration and that Daff has been taking in more fluid than she's losing. So, new meds mix started today to address both probs, and Doc's want to monitor this for 24hrs to see if it works.
Outcome - could see Daff home by the w/end - if it had been just the infection she may well have been 'released' today, but poss tomorrow or Saturday. A little more 'adventure' on the eating side - took in some oxtail soup and bread roll, majority of which was consumed, so that's good, and Daff wants to try a ham and tom' roll tomorrow (produce purchased and ready to prepare!)......either way I win...if she can eat it, great, if not, I will ! lol ! (save cooking when I get home ;o) ).

Fingers crossed !

R.

P.S. Need her home soon anyway - felines driving me mad !!!!!!!

Morning all,

I have crossed everything to get my spud gun Tess, but that dotty Garter Elastic does chafe some delicate places. I shall go back to the un-dotty knicker elastic.

Hope Ann and T have a fantastic time on her 'present trip'. We will expect reports when she gets back.

I wonder if Daff has had a better sleep, and has been able to enjoy some tasty morsels.

Love,
Elisabeth xx
