Good morning BC good to see you.

R had another thought. What about magnetic alphabet letters (toy shop?) and a magnetic 'board' of some sort for basic words.

Two forward, one back sometimes, but still improvement. Thank you, Mr Daff.

Hugs for both.

Morning dear Daff. Sorry for my absence but I was thinking of you. I see some great improvements but some frustrations. Keep battling. Hope the Troops havent been slacking:-) BC .

Jude, you took the words (no pun intended) out of my mouth.

R I can imagine how frustrating it must be for Daff. Would it help if you took the laptop in and she used the keyboard to point to letters? Maybe that would be too tiring as well. Did she/you ever learn the baby sign language? that would be a help for simple things, I don't know if it is on the net but there is a simple sign for "drink" etc. e.g.I think making a fist with the right hand means orange but my memory from granddaughter is rusty.

You could make up your own signs for her to use, just simple ones.

Anyway, this too will pass tell her. We are all willing her on, hopefully her arms will strengthen and she will be able to hold a pen. Just a thought, is there an occupational therapist in the hospital who could advise you? Maybe a pen for people who have arthriris would help.

Hello R...and there's me thinking you was resting and Daff had had a better day.
Sorry to hear its been a frustrating day for her, and to think she stillcan't give you an ear bashing!!

Can you find some kind of board with the alphabet on (blackboard and write the alphabet) and give Daff something to point to the letters with. It might help??

Take care
jude:o)

Some ups, some downs,
Generally Daff doing well, but very, very frustrated that 'we' can't communicate either verbally or even by writing. They have supplied a 'vocal' insert for Daff's trachy, but it takes time and practice to use it, and the latter is very tiring and a bit scary coz you have to adjust your breating pattern.
Because her arms are very weak, we found out today she can't hold a pen well, and is not therefore able to form the letters....very frustrating, and understandably Daff is quite angry about this.....she wants to say things, but none of us can understand what it is.........
Physio's are 'booked' to work on chest, arms and legs, but again that will take time.
Not the best of days, considering, but sure better to come.

Cheers,

R.
