20 years ago we lived in Clifton beds and I was working for the MOD at RAF Henlow in civilian personnel. Son had set up home in his own house so it was still just the two of us. We had our adorable first grandson who was born the previous year.

20yrs ago I was 19...working in a local factory kitchen while doing a YTS course in Hotel and Catering...footloose and fancy free with my eye on a lad in the factory lol.

Passed my driving test on the 21st April and the following night met my first steady boyfriend lasted 21/2yrs.

Had long blonde highlighted hair permed to be like Jon bon jovi (was my idol) was a very trim/slim (no baby belly) size 10 with a decent clevage lol.

Lived at home with Mam and Dad. Went out every Fri, Sat and Sun night rolling into work on the Mon still hung over lol

Those were the days. Do I miss them - SOMETIMES!

20 years ago I was just about to give birth to my 3rd child , already had 2 teenagers and was an ' older mum ' so everynoe was teling me , but wouldn't have changed anything for the world , what a joy she has been , and it's true what people say they do keep you young even though I am now in my 60's . She is the one who got me started on finding my ancestors, so thank you Vicky.

20 years ago, I was 15, still at school, not a care in the world, hanging about with my pals, met my first boyfriend we used to meet at the community centre to play pool, he wasn't allowed to come collect me from my house, my mum freaked, hence why i met him at the community centre

Twenty years ago I had no fewer than sixty-four Estee Lauder lipsticks in my dressing table drawer. I also had the full range of Estee Lauder perfumes.

I was a prolific shoplifter!

After years of being a Secretary/PA, decided I needed something new, and went into Finance. Best move I made, not a Servant to anyone anymore, at their beck and call.
Late 50's and OH and I enjoying ourselves on nice holdays etc.

Now late 70's with all the happy memories, of things we did 20 years ago.

20 years ago now, I must have been in my second year at nursery school, and I think it was in the May of 1989 that I was a bluebird in The Wizard Of Oz when my ballet school put it on for three nights running - we had to sing Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

I was also not far away from starting primary school (I was 5 in September '89) and I recall being quite into Kylie Minogue - my sister liked Jason Donovan.

20 years ago, 14th April 1989, I was 21, and getting ready for my wedding the next day.

Now I can't say why did nobody lock me up & not let me go til I'd come to my senses, or I wouldn't have my gorgeous twins, but apart from them - well, you get the idea.

Maria xx

(PS - for those who know me, this isn't present (& final!) OH I'm talking about. He can stay, lol)
