Lyndsey, thats an interesting song,I remember some of it,It was What is She? That all her Swains Forsake her.Seems a bit silly now, but I wonder why.Perhaps some one knows the rest of the words.**M**.Then there was another song "Danny Boy".

Mau we used to sing that too, yep memories have come flooding back. x

Also our music teacher was a folk singer and played the guitar so we had to sing his songs too, lol but he also liked to sing the geordie songs so we sang Blaydon races, wor geordies lost his penker and more, lol

For some reason Merlin this popped into my head :O) ?

Soldier, Soldier Will You Marry Me?

Soldier, soldier will you marry me
With your musket, fife and drum?
Oh, how can I marry such a pretty
Girl as thee,
If I've got no shoes to put on?

Off to the cobbler she did go,
As fast as she could run,
Bought him a pair of the best that
Was there,
And the soldier put them on.

Chorus: Soldier, Soldier…

Oh, how can I marry such a pretty girl as thee,
If I've got no pants to put on?
So off to the tailor she did go …

Chorus: Soldier, soldier…

Oh, how can I marry such a pretty girl as thee
With a wife and baby at home?

Not religeous Merlin but I used to love singing O Jesus I have Promised, both versions, uplifting cheery and a good start to the day, this was in the 70's mind.
