My Music Teacher was in the local Folk Club & used to give us a very varied curriculum !!!!!!!!!

Chorus:
Bottle of wine, fruit of the vine, when you gonna let me get sober. LEAVE me alone. Let me go home. Let me go HOME and start over.

Well, I've rambled around this dirty old town singing for nickels and dimes.
Times getting' rough. I can't get enough to buy me a little bottle of wine.

(Chorus)

Well, little hotel, older than hell, cold as the dark in the mine.
Light so dim, I had to grin, I got me a little bottle of wine.

(Chorus)

Well, the preacher will preach and the teacher will teach. The miner will dig in the mine.
I ride the rods, trusting in God, huggin' my little bottle of wine.

(Chorus)

Well, pain in my head, bugs in my bed, pants so old that they shine.
Out on the street, I tell the people I meet to buy me a little bottle of wine.

(Chorus)

Bottle of wine, fruit of the vine, when you gonna let me get sober.

Jesus loves me! this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
they are weak but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! loves me still,
'tho I'm very weak and ill,
that I might from sin be free,
bled and died upon the tree.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! He who died
heaven's gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
let His little child come in.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! He will stay
close beside me all the way.
Thou hast bled and died for me,
I will henceforth live for Thee.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me when I'm good.
When I do the things I should.
Jesus loves me when I'm bad,
but it makes him oh so sad.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Here you go Barb! lol

The first childrens hymn I remember learning at school was this one - I know we wouldn't be allowed to teach it today, and to read the words now it does sound very ignorant to me, but we sang it, as 4 year olds, with complete innocence ...

Over the sea there are little brown children
Fathers and mothers and babies dear
They have not heard of the dear Lord Jesus
No-one has told them that God is near
Swift let the message blow over the water
Telling the children that God is near.

If anyone finds my post even the slightest bit offensive please tell me and I will delete it, I don't want to spoil a nice thread.
