The info is from a plastic surgeon. Some groups are more prone to developing keloids, including the groups mentioned. Plastic surgery clinics have seen an increase in numbers.

Ed,
i dont know why he's ok with it,its not like him....mid life crisis perhaps??

thing is she is mature enough to look after it,shes scruplessly(sp??)clean....now my other one, aka stig of the dump, wouldn't look after it at all, apart from fainting.

i've said to 14 yr old wait till your 16(sept next yr)but oh no,i want it done now........shes not known for her patience

Hi Karen, my daughter had it done at 14, I went with her and it was a highly respectable practitioner, it does look nice , she doesnt show it off though, I made sure she kept it clean and infection free. I have said no to any other piercing.

She isnt allowed to wear it for school. I thought a lot before i let her, just before her 15th birthday, Many of her friends had it done at 13, but i argued for a year until I felt she understood the implications. She also has friends at 15 with tatooes, that I would not allow.

I may be completely stupid here, but, if she isn't going to show it off, what's the point in having it done. In my school, all piercings have to be removed for school or covered over with a plaster. The stubborn ones go with a plaster for 1 day max usually lol!
I also would say NO to a 14 year old and wouldn't allow tattoos either - my sister works in dermatology and has told me too many scary stories.

Janice i meant she doesnt show it off to all and sundry, she has it in for dance shows, as a lot of the other young lasses do. She wanted her tongue done but i said no way. I too have trained in skin care and made sure all was ok.

I expect Dad is being crafty. What is the point of having a piercing if one of your parents APPROVE!?

i may get shot here lol
but i dont see a problem with it , Girls love all the fasion , i have mine done so if my 14 year old wanted hers done i would feel very hypocritical not to let her .
i don't see the difference in saying no at 14 and saying yes at 16 lol
and for the record all of sundry dont see mine (even i have trouble seeing it lol)

I wouldnt dare have mine done Rosie after 5 kids! but i agree, i made sure it was clean, hygeniec and in the scheme of things, its not the most important thing im worried about her with,I work with teenagers and many have tatoos, etc, done at 14 or 15. I think the non permanent nature, makes me a little less worried.

Ed I would NEVER condone a tatoo on a minor, mine was done at 30 with a respected tatoo artist. I would sue anyone who did one on my child,

ha ha i've played a blinder......told her to go and get it done but i want nothing to do with it...dad has to take her.........so she says to hubby i can get it done but mum wants nothing to do with it so can you take me............that soon changed his mind,he'll faint at the sight of blood or a needle so now he's said no.
