Festival toilets aren't that bad *really*.....We camped right next to them at Reading last year. What I generally do is take a MASSIVE intake of breath as I enter, the smell hits you that once, and it's fine after that.

I must say, I prefer the long-drops too, not anything like as bad as the normal ones, they seem to stay much cleaner, and the er..."human left-overs" are further away from the body too. It's a win-win situation really.

I like it when it's a bit muddy too, there's something very liberating about trudging knee-deep in sludge for five days, and you really only get dirty once, you can't actually get any muddier, so there's no point in worrying about it.....Wahahaha!! I'm ALWAYS ready for a long hot soak when I get home though.
