The Tourist’s Prayer (especially for GRMarilyn ). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heavenly Father, look down on us your humble, obedient tourist servants who are doomed to travel this earth taking photographs, sending postcards & buying souvenirs. We beseech you, O Lord, to see that our ship is not hijacked, our luggage is not lost & our overweight baggage goes unnoticed. Give us this day divine guidance in our selection of hotels. We pray that the telephones work & that the operators speak our language.
Lead us to good, inexpensive restaurants where the wine is included in the price of the meal. Give us the wisdom to tip correctly in currencies we do not understand. Make the locals love us for what we are & not for what we can contribute to their worldly goods. Grant us the strength to visit the museums, cathedrals, palaces & if we skip an historic monument to take a nap after lunch, have mercy on us for our flesh is weak.
Dear God, protect our wives from ‘bargains’ they don’t need or cannot afford. Lead them not into temptation for they know not what they do. Almighty Father, keep our husbands from looking at foreign women & comparing them to us. Save them from making fools of themselves at night-clubs. Above all, please do not forgive them their trespasses for they know exactly what they do.
And when our voyage is over, grant the favour of finding someone who will look at our holiday snaps & listen to our stories, so our lives as tourists will not have been in vain.
Amen.

Afternoon all.
It's been really windy here today, dustbins and garden furniture blowing all over the place.
Yvonne, the only things I've ever bought from the Internet have been certs from the GRO. My brother buys and sells all sorts of things on ebay but I'm still a bit wary of it.
Edit: Didn't see you there Mo, how are you?
Edit again: Forgot to say............. is anyone having trouble accessing their Privacy settings?
I need to get into mine to delete someone from my 'updates' but I just keep getting the 'Error' message.
I'm getting masses of updates from someone who thought she was related to my aunt............... but she isn't.

Go for it Yvonne. My daughter is always buying and selling on E.Bay. You would be surprised what rubbish people will buy, it's like when you take a table car at a boot fair to clear out your own rubbish. Things that you would normally throw in the dustbin, others will buy. Hope you are all well. Love Mo xxx

A Parable you won’t find in the Bible. (copied from a local Church Newsletter). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A couple had been married for over sixty years. They had shared everything, talked about everything & kept no secrets from each other, except for one thing - the shoe box on top of the wardrobe. The wife had insisted that her husband should never open it or ask her about it.
Over the years, the husband never referred to the box but the time came when the old lady was very ill & the doctor broke the news that she was unlikely to recover. They both started sorting out their affairs & the husband pointed to the shoe box.
His wife agreed that it was time he should know what it contained. When he opened the box, he found two knitted dolls & a huge sum of money. She saw he was astonished & said: “When we were to be married, my grandmother told me that the secret of a happy marriage was never to argue. She said that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet & knit a doll”.
The old man was moved to tears when he saw only two dolls in the box. He couldn’t believe that she had only been angry with him twice in all those years. He felt very humbled & then asked his wife about the money. “Oh” she replied, “that’s the money I made from selling loads of dolls over the years we have been married”.
Amen!

Afternoon everyone.
Stephen, that's brilliant news, I'm really pleased for you. Such a relief to have him back safe and sound.
Shelly, I've sent you an email with some Marrow Christenings on, you've probably got them but it's all I could find. Found 20 marriages for Ann Pettit in Suffolk but none of them were to John Marrow.
Mo, good to see you on the thread, hope that means you're feeling a little bit better.
Pleased to see the party went off well Cath............ and you were sober enough to type afterwards as well!!

Ooooh Stephen, it's great to hear that your son has managed to get home earlier than you thought he would. And what a lovely surprise for you both. I bet the wee girlies are thrilled to have gramps with them for a while.
Shelly, whats this about having a bag of apples on the charger lead, now why would you be doing that may I ask.
Poor Rita has not had very good weather for the wedding has she, but I bet she has enjoyed herself being with the family.
I hope that everyone who is on holiday, is enjoying the break away. George should be back soon I would imagine.
Take care one and all, from a still feeling like sh*te Mo xxx
