Hi Rita
It's a shame we two aren't closer or I could pop in for a Knit and natter !!

With hubby on shift work I am often here on my own and that is probably why I spend too much time on my lap top and searching for Dead People !! My family too are shift workers like yours, son and DIL in computers, eldest daughter a housing officer for the YMCA(24 hr care) and youngest now working in a Day Centre, her first normal hours job.

Hope somebody manages to pop in today.

I am actually out this afternoon but will have to be brought home in the evening as Hubby isn't home til nearly midnight.
I don't drive.

Linda :o) XxX

PS THanks for the cuppa Shelly needed that, you posted while I was addding too

I have just sorted out my linen cupboard and have a big bag of stuff to take to the charity shop tomorrow I dont know how I managed to get it into my trolley. the problem will be to get it out LO.

I must get back to my research I have not done any of my own for a couple of weeks I was doing some for family members.and it is all finished now. so I can breath again.

As I didnt find my Absalom I have started going back and looking at the work my ancestors did. most of the main ones i knew but some of the others I didnt find as I was too busy searching. any of you look for the trade they are in when you do your research ?
Yesterday I was reading "Family Tree " the september issue and I found a photo of crew members of "SeaHorse " someone had requested a date for the photot and said it was sold 1902. that didnt make sense to me as my Absalom brother Walter Lee had served on that and I had found him in the 1901 census in Portsmouth harbour with a list of the crew Great Uncle Walter had joined the Navy when he was 12 years old and was on the tall ships.in the 1901 census he was a 1st class chief petty officer.in 1911 I found him and he was still in the Navy but two months after he was retired and a Ship to Shore CPO. so I have emailed this lady telling her. I told her I have all his Navy papers with all the ships he had served on. so I will wait and see if she replies.he was still on "Seahorse in 1911.

Rita Report 9 Aug 2009 12:16

Don't know Pauline but I just thought I would let her know. as Great Uncle Walter was still on it in August 1911.
I have been looking at that photo again a few minutes ago to see if I can see him as I have a lovely photo of him in his uniform.but I cannot see him.

I hope she gets back to me.

Hi Ladies................... Marilyn and Rita

Think everyone is busy, as it is still such a lovely day, here at least.

Managed to do pruning this morning, filled the green recycling bags for the morning. Just been out and cut the back grass too, now I am pooped. It's rather hot and I am melting.
Hubby has gone to work and I am just waiting for my daughter to come, after she has walked her lurcher, too hot for me.

Will do a bit more knitting while I wait. Don't think there's enough time to do any research.

Sue, that sounds terrible, will she be able to walk again?

You could have gone into business with those Sainsburys, they could have sent the laundry over to you after they'd washed it......LOL
