Your poor Hubby....Making him leave his dinner lol

AnnCardiff Report 1 Dec 2008 11:03

poor little Nutty - how you can sleep at night I don't know!!! I had no idea there were black squirrels - when I was a child there were only red ones and then the greys killed them all off. Apparently they are now making a comeback so I look forward to seeing some red ones again.

Deb - I hate to rain on your parade love but they will roam upwards of 6 miles a night!

Nutty will be back, after all he likes you, and has safe secure accommodation (in his cage) and gets taken on trips! Why would he want to leave you? )))))

Best try to find out how he gets in, and then get a bouncer on the door!

We get 1 or two mice a year.We had a mouse that returned to us from the local churchyard. He must've liked our house as he crossed a main road to return. When we caught him the second time he went a on a car trip to the local reclaimed gravel pit.

I've now found that if I take them to the local common, they don't return. I do get funny looks as I walk there talking soothingly to a carrier bag with a trap in it.

I'm sure the lure of lots of old takeaways is much nicer than raw potatoes!

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 1 Dec 2008 09:00

Yea! We are now one squirrel down!

We were having a family dinner and discussing our "guest". I mentioned that if the squirrel was in the trap, that he should be given some water.

Hubby went up into the attic (as you do during dinner) and came back with "Nutty". He is my buddy from the summer, a beautiful black squirrel.

Anyway he went for a nice little car ride and was set free about two miles upriver from us.

I would have waited until it was daylight so that he could get his bearings.
I just hope that he didn't end up a cayote snack.

I feel guilty, but then again he could have eaten through the wiring and caused a fire. Not good when your house is made from wood.

So all is good.

Wait until you get possums in the roof Deb!
They're 4 times the size of squirrels.
You really know you are alive when they
start tap-dancing on a tin roof at 3AM>.!

Seriously though, I have a light on a timer
in the roof cavity. Keeps the little vermin much quieter!

I had these unwanted lodgers in my loft a few years ago..I was advised by my local council to randomly play loud music in the loft a few times a day..after day four we never heared them again..Apparently squirrels hate loud music. Good Luck

Deb Vancouver (18665) Report 29 Nov 2008 18:24

So that no one gets upset, I have changed the title.

They must have been having a sleep in this morning, as they were late making noise!

Nothing in the trap yet.

When we do catch them, they are going on a nice car ride.

Yes the grey squirrels are vermin and now people are being urged to eat them if trapped.

Hi all, it's Saturday, not Friday night, and the spelling is different, it's correct!
Must admit I looked twice but seeing the poster's name knew this was fluffytailed stuff and nothing more.

Hope you can trap them and let them loose miles away Deb, altho in the UK you aren't allowed to let them loose, as they are considered vermin, well the grey ones are I think.

Mildred,

With the very greatest of respect I think if you re-read that is exactly what Mick meant and I said.

And the reason we said it was to try and stop people jumping all over a thread trying to make it controversial. Which is exactly what you proceeded to do!

Sometimes, just sometimes isn't it better to read twice and press send once?

Perhaps if you all kept to the thread topic and stopped insisting on outside influence there would be no upset.
