How are you getting along? Any improvement with

Went to see the Practise Nurse on Tuesday, Check up. I have put on a stone since last year. My actual waist size is 45" thats not my trouser size they are 38" She took the mesurement where your waist is and you had to exhale so as to get the right size. DIET DIET DIET. for the next few months

Well done Frank, keep making the cakes, and other things too, anything to keep you active and your brain ticking over lol Don't eat too much marmalade and cake tho or you will put on loads of weight lol

My wife has made about 16lbs of Marmalade. I have eaten two jars so far. Its great. I have started making cakes. The first lot were Rock cakes. Did a fruit cake last week. This week I hope to make a rich fruit cake (like a Christmas cake) It keeps me busy for a couple of hours. and they have tasted good so far.

Hope everyone is keeping well, I haven't had a bad turn this year!!!! and I don't want one.

Ours came from a little greengrocers.I don't think they are quite as juicy this year but did seem to reach setting point quickly.

Had to be quick to get them in Tesco last year as I recall.

Regarding Marmalade. We went into Tesco's yesterday to buy Saville Oranges. they said they won't be around till next month. Is this right.???? I trust everyone in O.K. and keeping warm during this cold snap,

We have just aquired a board with three nails in so my poor old dad has to peel the potatoes every day now.Today he was akso forced to juice and cut up the oranges for the marmalade.He did it in the food processor.

Won't be able to call it my marmalade this year.

He was also forceds to go to the next village on the bus to buy the oranges.Poor old sod!

Hi Julia. certainly try to keep busy. Went for a walk last night to my local Football Club to see Man U play Celtic. I am a West Ham fan (Yes the do have some) and been so for over 65 years. Don't think I will change now.

Hi all,
Thanks again for all the positive vibes you are sending out. I am trying to be positive, but do get annoyed with myself when things I am doing don't go right.

I do most of the cooking in the house, it takes a long time to prepare the veg, but I start in the morning and it all gets done by afternoon. My chickens have to be feed and watered every day,so thats another thing to keep me active. Now I have you lot to read about and talk too. I look forward to getting on my PC every day and seeing whats going on.

This I must say is all down to MEL. she introduced me to the threads. I get a lot of pleasure from it. Thanks to you All.

What wonderful stories you all have to tell.

Helen - I love the idea of the card. I was lucky enough not to lose my speech but it was very slurred, as if I was drunk. I just used to tell people, that I hadn't been on the bottle but had had a stroke. It still happens to me now if I'm very tired.

Gail - I hated it too , when anybody snatched things away from me to do it themselves. You are an absolute star .

Sharron - Your Dad is very lucky to have you to look after him, it sounds to me as if you're really on the right track. Had to laugh when I read about the gadget for cracking eggs one handed, I could really have done with one of those. I don't even want to think about how many eggs I ruined before I learnt to do it properly again!
I was just giggling to myself when I read about the wheelchair. A nurse walked into my room, on my birthday, with a wheelchair and asked me whether I would like to give it a try. She helped me into it, I practised a bit in the room (mainly bumping into furniture) and then I was off, down the corridor, the poor nurse chased me down the corridor waving a hairbrush, I had been bedridden for 2 weeks, my hair was such a mess, she was embarrassed for me. To be honest, I didn't give a monkey's, freedom was beckoning! That wheelchair was probably the nicest birthday pressie ever.
