Yes, the rivers had a right good scouring, there new pools, bends and a couple of ox bows been created.

Fish are there in numbers, but the thrice dammed midges are out - not a breath of wind, warm, muggy....sheer torture.

You can get a pretty good insect repelent cream to smear on yees that keeps the midges away.
Folk forget that rivers need a good flood now and again.
Just like forests need a burn now and again.

I know, I know.

I even make shoes out of their skins. And binocular lens covers from their...well, you can imagine I'm sure. And coat hooks from their antlers.....useful little devils they are!

Cold sliced bambi salad with home made chips and tomato sauce.

Joy - nice one! Must remember that one for the next argument I mean discussion.

Kay - these mossies are the size of sparrows with teeth the size of a horse doctors syringe. I must have lost at least 3 pints of blood. Need to replenish it soon.
