Funny you should say that Ann, I've just been googling.

Vim is the name of a range of household cleaning products produced by Lever Brothers.[1] Vim scouring powder, one of the first products created by William Lever, first appeared in 1904[2] and was produced at Port Sunlight near Liverpool, England. The name Vim remained solely associated with the scouring powder until 1993 when a range of associated products was released.

The name of the brand was probably taken from the word vim, meaning force, energy, vigour.

I use whatever is on offer (olay, nivea q10, garnier etc) and use simple scrub.

I'm very lucky and have inherited my mum's good skin.

WHY DID THEY CHANGE THE NAME OF JIF TO CIF?

Daff, I have a reaction to E45 too. My Dr prescribed it once - nearly burnt the skin off me.

Cif is a brand of cleaning products by Unilever, known as Jif in Australia, New Zealand, and the Nordic countries.

The product was known as Jif in Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Hong Kong until 2001 when the name was changed to Cif in order to harmonise marketing and product inventories across the continent, though British advertisements stated that the change was made because Hispanics and France couldn't pronounce Jif properly (it's pronounced 'hif' in Castilian).[citation needed]

In Sweden and Great Britain the products were sold under the name Vim before this was changed to Jif - the name Cif thought to be too reminiscent of syphilis to English speakers.[citation needed]

In Belgium and Portugal, the product was known as Vim for quite some time, after which it became Cif. In Canada and India, it is still called Vim. In Germany, the cleaner's name is Viss. To add to the confusion, in Turkey the product's name Cif is pronounced 'Jif'.

I'm allergic to lanolin - which is in a lot of face products - it doesn't make my skin soft and silky - it gives me eczma!!
I use aqueous cream to clean my face and Body Shop 'Hemp' face cream to moisturise. I'll carry on with that until my skin becomes intolerant to it.

I am allergic to lanolin, like Maggie Winchester, I was putting E45 cream on my body, and came up in lots of spots, very itchy.
Now use the acqueous cream, on my body, and on my face found Superdrug Vitamen E Moisture lotion good and at £2.49 it dont break the bank.
Also use ASDA cleansing lotion, for sensitive skin, think this is in the £1 to £2 range as well.

Also bought expensive blusher, which went lumpy. just found Maybelline blusher, far better. Also their mascara for £3.99 good.
