Liz... how disappointing for him. I do hope his luck changes and he manages to get a ticket.

Liz, I do so hope your son gets a ticket. He certainly deserves one. Keep my fingers crossed for him.

never has any luck!

You may remember I was asking if anyone had tickets for Reading Festival which is on over this weekend. He couldn't afford a ticket when they were first on sale and has been trying everywhere to get one at a reasonable price, full price is I think £160! He arranged to take the rest of his holiday over the weekend, ie. from Thursday to Tuesday and took his tent to his pal to take early Thursday morning so they could erect it near theirs and keep him a space. They assured him he would get a ticket when he got there. He was going with other mates in their car at lunchtime.
He even advertised on local Gumtree in case he could get a ticket, I saw an ad and emailed asking if they got offered two, could they ring me for my lad, he emailed me back and said Thanks Mum, that was me asking lol
Anyway during the morning his mate rings him from Reading, he has managed to forget son's tent so son had to go out and get another one (half price in Argos, £17) He goes off in other pal's car, £15 towards petrol, several of them, and they drop him off outside the festival venue so he can try and buy a ticket. He made himself a sign asking for one ticket but said there were touts everywhere getting to anyone who had ticket for sale and they had also bought up tickets earlier, and were reselling at over £400!
He thinks he must have walked about 20 miles, for hours, to try and get a ticket, and eventually gave up, left his stuff in his mates car and caught a train back to Norwich, £48 return, just £1 dearer than a single fare home. He is hoping his mates can get him a ticket today or tomorrow cheaply, and then he will use the return part of the ticket to get back there and enjoy his 'holiday'. He did wonder whether to get a b and b but that would have been almost as much as the train fare and if still unable to get a ticket, would have had to pay to get home as well.
Please cross your fingers he gets a ticket soon at a price he can afford, so he can enjoy himself with his mates.
Don't you wish you could wave a wand for your kids sometimes, to make things go right for them? He works two jobs to keep his flat going and I feel so sad for him stuck here without his mates. Even his new girlfriend had made other plans thinking he would be away!
