Sandra, that was cute lol! Glad his mate got in and hope he didn't have to pay too much.

Hope they all have a great time and safe journeys home.

My son usually says 'love you' at the end of each call to me, as I do to him, so if any of you ring me and I say that, you will know where it comes from lol I do feel great affection for lots of my friends I have on these boards lol and sometimes I say love you as I say Bye, without thinking. I am dreading coming out with it at the end of an official type call lol

Hi Liz

Got text off of my son early hours to say he loved me!! How drunk was he, and there was I panicking as my phone had gone off!!!

His friend managed to get in after all, don't know how much he paid for his ticket though.

By the way my son is 19.

Well, he made it! Managed to track down a ticket that a young (18 yr old) girl in Cromer had, she wanted £280 for it but was prepared to come into Norwich on the train to meet him at the station so he could then catch the train to London and then on to Reading. He managed to get her down to £260 (madness I think lol but it will be his only holiday this year) and he set off for the station. Then she rang him to say she had been called into work so no time to travel in and back again, so he had to get a train to Cromer and pick the ticket up. She took another £5 off for the train fare which was good of her, and I finally got a call to say he was at the Festival with his mates. He will be shattered poor lad!

He was still having a moan tho (wonder who he gets that from lol) he wasn't happy about the colour of his wristband! Fgs, boy, it's only a band, doesn't matter about the colour, you are there!!!

Just hope after all that effort, the weather isn't too horrible and he has a great time and stays safe. He should be home on Monday evening and I think he has Tuesday off to recover!
I am sure all your good wishes and positive thoughts helped him have his break.
Thanks, you lovely people.

Thanks folks.

I know it would have been easier CP (love the name) but he didn't have the money when the tickets went on sale, he has a flat to run and arrears on rent and council tax he is paying back from when he did a college course and the council messed up his benefit claim. He would have had to pay the petrol money to get there anyway and it was his mate's error re the tent. If he doesn't use it he can get a refund on that altho he says he might keep it as his other tent is a bit old and smelly. He has done a lot of camping over the years and will do more so it isn't any ill store.
Sandra, he doesn't often go to Tescos except the mini one near his home for food bargains. The ones that do more than food are out of the city and he lives closer to the city centre and the Argos etc. He doesn't have a car and his scooter is off the road as he has to do his test again, it's run out.
I have heard of other people being ripped off over their tickets - it's a disgrace. Son said Reading organisers should do what Glastonbury did and put photos on the tickets so no one else can use them. I am hoping he doesn't end up ripped off too.
Hope your family's friend gets in ok.

Haven't heard from my lad, I expect he is still sleeping as he didn't get in till the early hours and was exhausted with all that walking about and then the travelling home and stress.
He is 26.

after paying £17 for a tent and £15 for petrol and also the train ticket, it would have been less stressful to get a ticket at the full asking price origially.... hope he does get to go asnd has a fantastic week-end.....

My son went to Reading yesterday, his girlfriends mum bought their tickets for them when they first went on sale and they have been paying her back monthly.

His friend didn't know if he could get the time off work until 3 weeks ago, by which time tickets from the normal sources had all been sold, so he paid £200 for one off ebay...... needless to say, his ticket never arrived and there's no sign of the person/site he bought the ticket from!

He went along with my son anyway in the hope that he could buy a ticket when he got there. He took a further £250 in cash for a ticket.

I haven't heard from them yet (son has his phone off to save the battery, so will only ring me if he's got a problem) so I don't know if his friend managed to get a ticket.

By the way, my son got his tent in Tesco's 2 weeks ago, they were in the sale, a 2 man one for £4.99!!!, and a sleeping bag for £3!!!!!!

Aah Liz, Don't we feel for our kids? How I dislike the fact that these touts can get away with operating like that, cashing in on people who can't really afford it. I do hope something comes up for him.
