Just seen the news, how sad for all concerned.

My thoughts go out to everyone affected.

....

I'd just like to add, that the reason these events shock people into responding more than one would normally do to car crashes, is not because car crashes are less devastating or less newsworthy, its just because plane crashes are in a very small minority compared with car crashes....and normally there is a much larger sudden loss of life when a plane crashes..

It also dont mean that we dont care about lesser numbers who lose their lives on the roads...

Yes, Ann, only 2 little ones mentioned so far but no idea as to whether they were amongst the survivors. So sad and must have been horrifying for those stood in the veiwing lounge.

somehow it always seems worse too when people haven't had their holiday. I know that sounds daft but you can imagine they were all excited looking forward to the break. Spanish children are on their holidays now, their go into September.
It only mentioned two children though didn't it. OH thinks it was quite a small aircraft.

Ok, mmmmmmmmmm. Was trying to understand.

Never mind!! Back to the thread, which is clearly about the plane crash in Spain.

Your opinion is duly noted Paul.

However most of us feel death is a sad fact of life, especialy when many people all die together.

My goodness Paul you do carry a huge chip on those shoulders.

I don't recollect anyone saying on here that people were not entitled to their opinion. But it is preferable if those opinions are not made in such a way that they are offensive to others, who are also entitled to their opinions. You seem to go out of your way to post opinions that are controversial, aggressive or offensive so unfortunately people will comment against them. That is a fact of life I am afraid!

And please don't PM me this time!!

Paul,

are you saying that we should not acknowledge this sad loss of life?

Why? Because its a plane crash in Spain or because all loss of life is not equally reported?

Just trying to understand.

Paul of course you are entitled to your opinion... people have fought and died for your right to it.

But common decency and courtesy might have helped you to decide to voice those opinions on another thread... maybe one of your own?

And before you slate me... that is, of course, my own opinion... and I am entitled to it!

Regards

Daff.

I also find your comments offencive Paul.
Death is indeed a fact of life, but I have to thank God daily that I and mine are safe..... until the day we are NOT!

EVERY untimely death is a tragedy to the family concerned.
No matter how old they may be.

Poor souls.

Paul,

I suppose that depends on where you live.

Here we hear daily about deaths on the road on the tv news and in the papers. Especially over a bank holiday weekend when road death rates tend to peak. But then maybe that says more about the society we live in rather than anything else.

I think the point is that its always sad when anyone dies, yes a fact of life but a sad fact of life.

No we cant do anything, except perhaps to offer our sympathies.

Paul, the problem is exactly as you stated, people get killed every day on the roads, fortunately, there are not large fatal air accidents every day.

Elisabeth

Elisabeth Report 20 Aug 2008 17:09

Paul,

I find your comments quite offensive.

If there is a fatal road accident, it usually makes the local or national news if there are multiple casualties. The coach crash near Alton Towers made the news yesterday.

How tragic, probably most of them looking forward to a holiday or returning from one on mainland Spain. May they rest in peace and their families gain strength from happy memories.
