My aunt wants to be cremated with her cigarettes. She says not to bother putting a lighter in - she'll get a light off the flames.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 26 Jul 2008 21:45

I'm going for cremation too - not looking forward to it at the minute but had a taster on the sun lounger this afternoon!!!

glad the thread hasn't upset anyone anyway - that's an achievement in itself!!!

We might as well talk about the inevitable and it's as well to bring some humour into it.

I'd like everyone to have a good laugh at my funeral - no black clothes, all bright colours and some good music - nice rousing stuff in the church and something more modern at the crem!!

I frequently get these strange thoughts, I ask OH some odd questions and he just looks at me and says "what made you think of that". It's a sign of intellegence Barbara, don't worry. lol

Ann,

Thanks, but no thanks....I want to be cremated and every time I bring the subject up with my OH he freaks...I guess some people just don't like to talk about it.

Whatever makes you happy!

Lindy xx

Barbara,
For epidemics such as plague etc, I think they put quick lime (or something like) on them, this would mean there would be no trace in a short amount of time. Also used for criminals I think.
I'm going from what I think I've read so could be wrong.
Great thread by the way Anne.

Hi Anne

Whan an interesting and funny thread, I always wonder at the fact that as millions and millions of peeps have died in the past, why don't we come across more old bones, you know from battlefields and plagues and things, billions have died, and not everyone was buried properly.

Does anyone know else what I'm talking about.

I went to relatives funeral, his name was Ron and he came from the Rhonnda, unfortunately the vicar had a speech impediment,,, and he became Won from the Whonnda.
I have a problem with inappropriate laughter at the best of times... I nearly chewed my tongue off stopping laughing

isn't it funny how you can get hysterics at a funeral - my friend and I went to the wrong funeral once. We thought we were at the funeral; of a schoolfriend of ours and when we saw the mourners entering the chapel - we were first in and at the inner end of a pew, we began to think "These don't look like friends of Ann" and sure enough when the service started we realised we were the only female mourners - it was a Gentlemen Only funeral - and the vicar said "An so we say farewell to our brother John". Too late, we had to sit through it cos we were blocked in. Relatives glared at us and we pretended not to notice. It was awful. Our friend's funeral was the one after!!!!
