Rachael,

I have only just noticed your latest replies. Thanks for those. It is good to know we would cope with the wheelchair.

It is also good to know that we could buy poppies etc, in memory of several dear friends who are remembered there.

Thanks.

Ronald,

Would it be practical to take my very elderly Mum-in-law in her wheelchair, or would it be better just to make the trip on our own?

Someone mentioned tis free to visit. A charge is made for car parking - think 50p for one hour or £2 all day. Whilst there's no entry fee you are asked to buy a map showing location of all memorials - cost £2.50. The grub IS good. I'm ex forces and have visited twice, some of my old mates are listed on the main memorial. Do wear sensible shoes if you intend nebbing all the individual memorials as you will have to walk on the grass.

Rachael,

That sounds wonderful - I hadn't realised there was so much there. Thank you for explaining it to us.

I really will have to try to get there before the winter.

Maz,

It is on our list of things to see, when we have some spare time. It looks so magnificent on the television, but must be so much more to stand there and read the names.

THE ARMED FORCES MEMORIAL WON THE HERITAGE CATEGORY!

Yes, I was shouting!

Thanks to everyone who voted. It was such a deserving hertitage memorial, not that the others were not.

Voting closes tomorrow noon I think, so we can hope that all our signatures will help towards the Armed Forces Memorial winning the award.

Thanks to all who have voted, and if you haven't perhaps you could take a look at the site now.

I am just off to cast another vote.
