Lots of good advice, dont forget to stir the contents of bin every once in a while. Dont really like not having open base, can see the heap getting very wet and smelly. We have a compost bin and a separate wormery which takes kitchen rubbish, not cooked. Bin gets grass cuttings, shrub and plant remnants, some paper. You can compost shredded paper. It will all seem to disappear in a very short time when it gets warm. Jean PS Dont worry about the small white insects you will get, they are harmless. |

Male urine only. They have the equipment to make weeing in a compost bin possible and their urine doesn't contain oestrogens which apparently isn't good for compost. |

My Dad had an allotment when I was young, for years, and all he did was to make a compost heap in the corner and it was watered by the rain......we used to have lovely veg from him........he was always a good gardener.... |

Yes Mick, the green ones are for cardboard and veg peelings and twigs, but lately they have been asking for all food waste to be put in them too..... |

hello fred ive been pulling worms up and putting them in me bbin, and ive put some tatty peelings for tatties and pond juice lol so been im mud all day xx |
