Daughter came home too and had 2 science papers both 45 min long, she said it was cool and not a problem. Maybe all the extra studying is paying off at last. She's out now playing with her mates and having some chilling out time. I'm really proud of her and her mature attitude at the moment. I have been doing tests with Yr 2 for the last few weeks, they have worked their little socks off bless em.

my year 3 & 5 children are doing QCA's this week so the whole school is stressed !!!

Good luck to all year 6 - including my lovely daughter.
I just sat as a reader for a dyslexic boy and he did really well despite the second paper being pretty tricky.

Some of these kids are only 10 years old - strict exam conditions and stress leading up to SATs week can not be good for the poor souls.

Year 2 SATs which are teacher marked / assessed. Year 6 SATs are marked externally. These are the ones used for league tables (to beat schools up with!)

There are Optional SATs papers for years 3, 4 & 5 - schools choose for themselves whether to use them or not to assess progress. The school I worked at used to do them in all years groups, but doesn't any longer - loads of stress and work to tell them what the teachers knew already.

They do them in years 2 4 and 6.

Year 6 Science papers this morning were the toughest ones for years, according to the teachers.............I sat as a reader with one of the year 6 boys and they were struggling:(

I am completely anti SATS....................especially for the poor year 2's..............some of them are still only 6 years old!

My daughter was saying this morning she has to do a SATs test this week. She's in year 3. Would this be true? I thought they only did them in Yr2 and Yr6 and of course high School.

My son started his this morning. He's not worried but reckons he will probably die of boredom before the end of the week. Not one to exaggerate my lad.

Good luck to all those kids, mine is doing those next year.
Last week was sats for my year 9, starting this week GCSE for my year 11.

Lots of revision going on in my house for the last month or so, aided by bribery blackmail and threats of dire murder....

Hi Catherine, My son did his sat's last week, he's a bright lad and sailed through them. I told him what I tell the other kids 'don't worry about them they are just tests to see if the school is teaching ok'. I know of some kids who get really strung up about them and some parents who get their kids into a real mess by pushing and pushing them for something that isn't that important.
