Just to drag the thread back to Colin's original point about silly statements, today 'they' whoever 'they' are have given out that children learn to read quicker if they have one to one teaching DOH.

sorry missed Maggie's reply....

feel much the same Maggie...being vegetarian is my choice , but one which i try not to impose on others...

However I think if one is prepared to kill to eat, then the conditions and slaughter of said animal must be as natural and humane as possible....not the intensive farming that has become the norm.

re reducing gases

if we packed all the cows into volcanoes, that could clog them up and stop explosion...killing 2 birds with one stone...and if that didn't work at least there would be barbecued beef for the whole surrounding areas for weeks to come

That it Sally.........whilst we are all busy worrying about what "they" want us too...........what else is happening that is more hidden ?

It has worked for governments in the past and it still does these days.

Just read your thread Amanda and I think you are spot on.....

I was listening to a radio programme recently and it was saying how, in the past, governments have put out worrying or frightening statements in order to take peoples' minds off what is really going on.....

Oh dear, I think I am for the chop then......with the veg soup I made yesterday I am a one-woman methane machine.......get rid of me quick.....

.....about the chef talking about using local produce only in restaurants, and only food in season......another chef said it was most probably due to the fact that he is opening a new restaurant and wants the publicity.....

Regarding some / most of the alarmist and ridiculous subjects the government are apparently concentrating on that have been mentioned.........I think that folk are to some extent blinded by the science and worried of the supposed consequences.
Busy pondering on such dire things we are un aware of important issues such as being back doored with GM crops and the all important fact the oil is indeed running out...........our Goverment likes to keep as busy and ignorant of such things.

Perhaps Mick, but they are not say a particular area, they say "Ice Caps"

Mick from the Bush

Mick from the Bush Report 9 May 2008 13:01

I think the problem will be when the mile thick icecap on land in Antarctica melts.

OH

OH Report 9 May 2008 11:27

What I am getting at is;
they say sea levels will rize with the melting ice caps, this I can't see,
If when frozen, water takes up more area as ice,
it is also know that 90% of an iceberg is under water, whe nthe iceberg melts the area has then become smaller, why do they say levels will rize and flooding will happen..

OH

OH Report 9 May 2008 11:15

Sorry Colin,, how are you?

didn't mean to ignore you.

OH

OH Report 9 May 2008 11:14

that's the button Stella, you have put ua finger right on it,
events have not been recorded so it is all new to us,

the question I asked earlier,
What happens to water when it freezes?

What happens to ice when it melts?

think it's just history repeating itself then Doc?

OH

OH Report 9 May 2008 11:07

we keep see in the news about great 50 mile long pieces of ice breaking away from the poles,
I ask; what are these things the continents are on?
Plates I think science calls them, what makes them think the plates stopped moving a million years ago, this is why we are still having earth quakes and volcanic eruptions and great slabs of ice breakaways.

OH

OH Report 9 May 2008 10:59

and just to put your minds at eaze, I am not saying these things with aggression, sorry if they appear that way.

OH

OH Report 9 May 2008 10:57

Yes Rose, but many insects live from one product only, such as the dung beetle, it's life depends on droppings, termites rely on timber product, worms survive on organics in the soil, if and when the main item is removed what becomes of those insects that depend on it??

The domino effect.

OH

OH Report 9 May 2008 10:53

No, I am not clever, was not educated to the fullest, I have learned what I know from the curiosities of my mind to be trained, I look, listen and learn,
however, that does not make me smarter than anyone else.
