Hun, so sad to hear such awful news - you must be gutted, poor poor Bonnie. Fancy putting on wrong ID tag; had no idea they did that.
We had Izzy (dwarf Lop Ear), such a sweetie. Took her to vets, did all right things, died shortly after we got her from a hole in the heart.
Cried and cried. Sending you big hug (((((hug)))))

UPDATE PAGE 3
What an awfull day I've had.
Yesterday i noticed my 9 month old rabbit Bonnie's right hind leg was looking very swollen & loosin fur on her foot.
Took her to the Vet this morning. They said she may have broken a bone or cut herself on something & that if she had then her licking her foot would cause the swelling & loss of fur. They took her in for sedation & xrays.
Got a phone call a couple of hours later to say it was not good news. Unknown to me she had an ID tag on her leg that was too small. It had cut off her circulation & killed her foot. she has to have her leg amputated tomorrow.
The shop I bought her from tried to fob me off with excuses of how it wasn't their fault as they ask breeders not to supply them with baby bunnies with ID tags. I phoned their head office who have agreed to pay all vet bills.
Apparantly these rings are put on the rabbits when they are babies & stay on for life. The problem with my poor Bonnie is that the breeder has put the wrong ring on her. She's a Dwarf Lop ear. the breeder has given her a ring for a Miniature Dwarf Lop.
A|ny one out there with Rabbits please check your bunnies & if they have a ring on them get your vet to remove it. Mistakes can happen. If I'd known Bonnie had an ID ring on her I would have had it removed.
I would hate what has happened to Bonnie to happen to anyone else. The pictures I've been given by the vet & the sight of Bonnies little leg once her fur had been removed are possibly the most traumatic thing I have ever seen. this wasn't a little back street pet shop. It was a very well known national company.
Please check your rabbits.
