Errol,

Is it possible that Windows is managing the internet connection and is taking priority?

I had this when I installed a new router and couldn't connect. Had to make sure that Windows was not managing the connection.

Sue x

If I click on

Click to open service control manager
You will need to manually start the diagnostics Policy service. Once this service is started you can run network diagnostics

then OK it brings up another box with

'User Account Controll
Windows needs your permission to continue
If you started this action, continue
Microsoft Management console
Microsoft Windows'

then there is a down arrow with 'details' beside it and 'continue' and 'cancel'

Hovering over the icon it says

Right click gives me a box with

With the blue wifi light on you could also try the following:

Click on Start > Connect To > Wireless Network Connection.
Highlight the network name you use in the available wireless networks list.
If you are using WEP encryption then remove the tick for Enable IEEE 802.11x authentication for this network and type the WEP encryption key in the Network key field.
Retype the encryption key in the Confirm network key field and then click on Connect.
