I did that about 4 days ago when we tried unplugged everything from the wll and from the box. Rebooted every blinky pc in the house after about 30 mins (cos it was Sunday and I forgot what I suposed to be doing and did dinner instead!! LOL) Actually that makes it 2 days ago, took all wires out of router so router was stand alone.

I have decided that if I get my Nursing course I am not buying a lap top unless it has XP on it!

ok let's look at what we have so far:
1. the laptop in itself is working fine and is running Vista
2. other computers can access the router and thus the internet
3. the laptop can access the router but not the internet

Is that all correct? (It is so easy to get bogged down and forget the original problem!)

No - I am familiar with the button on the back of the Voyager but a proper reset should be done by removing the leads for a few minutes.

Tried that. Little hidden button in back of router etc.

Is there some way of reconfiguring the setting?

It would be easier if it could be done remotely but as it wont go online thats not likely to happen!

If you have installed Windows updates then one MAY have screwed your settings and try to take control of your connection settings. I don't think this will work (it's very difficult "working remotely") but just try turning your laptop off and resetting your router (take the power cable and connection to the phone socket out for a few minutes).

Have you recently installed any new software? Or downloaded any plug-ins?

eRRolSheep Report 15 Apr 2008 22:34

If you don't know how to check then you probably haven't changed any settings (knowingly)

AVG only out of date since three days after it last went online!!

eRRolSheep Report 15 Apr 2008 21:43

ok it sounds like you aren't using the BT connection software.
(tut tut over the out of date AVG!)
Forget the signal strength - that is merely telling you that the connection between the router and the laptop is good.
Could you click on Start again please and then Network and tell me what is listed there?
