Oh how I hate people who complain about the workings of the countryside. Why on earth dont they just go back where they came from and leave the houses for the local young couples who are having to move out of the area because they cant afford to stay. I tell them to put up with anything they dont like or move. Some incomers are great and want to learn, take to country life and join in local events, others want to take over everything. Jean

Oh how they should have been me last Friday when my car was covered by a Muck sprayer as I was going up an A Rd!! I was not best pleased but it comes with the turf! You grin hope you get good luck and go to the carwash.

The reason these ( I'll be polite ) people with money move to the country for 2nd homes or just to live is an excuse for them to buy a bleeding gert big 4x4 which they cant drive properly .

Twizzle ;-))))))))))))))))

I am an Ex Londoner but moved to the West Country a few years ago as my First not second home. I have lived here several years now and have built up a nice network of freinds and have got used to how things are a little different, but I totally agree with you.

Every few Sundays I am lucky enough to be invited to a shoot (Clay not Animals) on a local farm and although its cold its a laugh and the Farmer whos land it is makes some burgers for afterwards hes really nice.

Of late I hadnt been invited and politely enquired if I had upset someone (maybe my Pink CAT boots) anyway I havent .......some STUPID person has moved close to the farm and has complained about the noise of the shoot so its less frequent now!!

How stupid is that - the farm has been there centurys - the shoot as far as I know has been going on for Decades and no its not a snobby corporate thing, its locals getting together having a chat and a shoot (all licenced and very strict) and a burger afterwards and gives the farmer a few extra quid in his back pocket - everyone happy.

I am furious! This person should have known about the shoots before they moved in and I am fuming the farmer has had to reduce them because of the noise! Its the Damn Countryside! If you move here you should embrace they ways or s*d off back to where you come from.

Whatever next - the Cows Moo to loud?

I grew up in a village in Wiltshire...and wish we could afford to move back....Affordable houses for villagers...I don't thinks so!

As for city or town folk moving to the country...complaining about:

the cows mooing and leaving a mess on the road,
early morning cock crowing,
church bells ringing too loud,
deer, rabbits, moles destroying their garden,
farmyards smelling
etc,
etc,
etc.,.....Why move to the b****y country?

Devon Dweller Report 10 Apr 2008 17:24

We have two shops one with a post office, one open pub, one closed down pub, a weekly market and a mobile bank.

When they spead muck on the fields all the Devon locals bitterly complain !...except us full time resident Londoners who dont actually breath the whole time we are outside the house lol
