Carol became popular in the late 40s i believe? Was it due to Carol Lombard? I think its popularity waned in the mid 70s.

i was born in 1950 linda susan although my gran wanted me to be eliza but my mum said no so called me linda frist name susan after my gran .but your right names seem to go round in circles just look how many girls now have flower names ie poppy lily daisy most boys are called after footballers or film stars .linda means pretty

eg certain names are associated with certain eras

eg some of the older names eg jack, Sophie, etc have come back into fashion

some names never have eg Ethel (apologies to Ethels - your time will come again lol)

Some names like Tracy, Colin, Lesley, Joanne, Julie remind you of certain generations and aren't in vogue at the moment although they are quite common.

I'm Clair - a 70's name for a 70's child.

Honestly, there were four Claire's in my tutor group alone-and about ten in the year group.

I haven't met many claire's older than me, nor many much younger than me so it must've only been popular for a short while.
