Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

So, Dad and I went up town to get a birthday card for mum. Sat in Debenhams having a coffee preparing to go and meet her from work. I had a phone call from the Housing Dept.

Keys were finally ready for me to go and have a look at the flat!

I was very composed, told them I'd be in shortly blah blah. Hung up and did a happy bouncy dance in my seat while squeeling excitedly. Dad, bless him, got all misted up and damp eyed. I looked like a complete loon.

Went and collected the keys and then took them with us to meet up with mum. Her work colleagues had put on a buffet for her and she sat looking at her pressie from them in the staff room. I dangled the keys in front of her.

Totally the best birthday present my mum could ever have wanted. She's 60 today :-)

We went and looked at the flat. It needs quite a bit of tarting up, but I have a great vision for that kind of thing. If there's one thing I can do it's paint! They're getting new kitchens in July, so I'm not sure how I'll manage waiting that long to have somewhere to plumb in a washing machine (there's nowhere yet). It was obviously inhabited by a blind person (as I know it was) because little care has been taken when patching up wallpaper in the right colour when they had new radiators. The bathroom needs work as it has a bath and an extractor fan right over it (illegal...all the flats have it apparently...not surprised that the council is breaking the law here). There is a hall cupboard that is big enough to be an office for me (5'4" by 4'3") which houses the meters and does have a radiator in it too LOL, not quite big enough to use as a guest bedroom LOL.

I'm so incredibly excited still, I have an appointment tomorrow at 2.30pm to sort out all the paper work.

Everyone can now uncross their bits and pieces.... I HAVE A FLAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for all your support during this time, it's really meant a lot to me. Anyone who needs help with uncrossing should probably call a yoga instructor PMSL
