diana's death, up late watching tv and stayed up till 7 in morning.....

9/11 saw it on bbc news as it came in... parents have satalite..

7/7 was visiting my nan in her home when it came on news, nan thought it was the war... bless her..

Diana's death - hubby phoned me from work to tell me. I switched on the TV but we didn't have satellite then, only local channels, so I couldn't understand the Arabic commentary - just had to watch pictures til evening news in English.

Kennedy's death - sitting at home being told to be quiet and watch cos it was very important.

Aberfan - remember the teacher telling us about it in class.

9/11 - heard it on radio first, remember wondering what idiot could make such an almighty mistake by flying into the WTC....then news of the 2nd one made my blood run cold, cos it confirmed that it was no accident.

7/7 - saw it on BBCWorld, spent the next 4 hours trying to get through on phone to my brother, a policeman in central London.

Gulf War 2, March 2003 - watched it unfold on TV in a hotel bar, then they put up the giant screen. The live band kept playing but everyone was turned away from them, glued to the screen. Hubby and I lived in Qatar at the time, but we'd gone to Bahrain for a mini break....which got extended cos all airports in the region got closed!!!

1980 Iran Embassy Seige - lived in London at the time, passed by the Embassy every day going to work. I remember the bravery of PC Trevor Lock and the SAS!

Elvis, 16th August? I was on the way home from Bridlington on coach after going to see Tony Christie at the Spa{?} It was announced on the radio and I can remember the silence on the coach.

Dianas death - in bed just pregnant with eldest & going to 2 Christenings that day.

it was dreadful wasn't it Mac - I worked for 28 years at our local psychiatric hospital and there are still people in there who survived the disaster but too traumatised to recover - what angered me then and still does now is that the government took money out of the disaster fund to cover the cost of flattening the coal tip that slid on to the school and killed everyone - had the tip slipped five minutes earlier the children would have been outside in the playground - they had just gone into class

I cried cus I worshipped my cousin Steven............. I was so glad when Mum said Elvis lol

Aberfan - working as a secretary in J R Freeman, Cigar Manufacturers in Cardiff - news came through that 12 people had been killed and I remember my boss poo pooing the news saying it must have been exaggerated!! By the time we left work the awful news was out that well over a hundred had died, mostly children

Princess Diana - I was at home when my husband rang me from Scotland - he was with Pendyrus Male Choir doing a tour of Scotland - the tour was cancelled and they all came home

9/11 - shopping in Abergavenny with my husband - heard people talking about something but didn't know what - then on the way home heard it all on the car radio
and arrived home to see the horrendous pictures on TV

JFK - living in rented accommodation not long after we were married when the news came on - we had a really small TV which had been given to us - after the news was broadcast the screen went blank and stayed that way for quite some time - only BBC then, no other channels

9/11........... at work and it was the quietest afternoon we had ever had ( bank )

7/7 .............. sat in my Dad's sorting through my Mum's paperwork, she had passed just a few weeks earlier

Elvis............... sat watching cartoons when Mum said " You'll never guess who's died" I replied
" Steven " ( my cousin ) cus he had fallen off his skateboard the day before

Dumblane............... sat on a beach in Tenerife

Ooh had forgotten Elvis, I was working in the co-op next to the record department who then played his records non stop.

I was sitting watching Tv late one night when it came over about Diana.

9/11 I was cooking and looked through at the tv, I thought it was a film clip.

The Dumblane shooting's I had a friend here for cofffee on afternoon,how sad.

When Elvis died, I thought it was great hearing all his song's on the radio, then I burst into tears when I found out why.

9/11 - at work. I work in a nursing home and can even remember which resident's room I was in.

7/7 - on a residential course (work again!!)

Princess Diana - work again on night duty so watched as it all unfolded.

Lockerbie - waiting for my chips in the chippy and it was broadcast on thier little tv.

Princess Diana - feeding my little girl her breakfast.

9/11 - In a shop looking for a dolls house for daughter for xmas.
