so child /tax benefit goes up by £2 a week but think how much food has gone up by more than that a week to feed the children. |

Psst, don't tell my 10 year old but his child benefit pays the water bill and part of the council tax. I would really love to be able to spend it on essentials like shoes for him - his are held together discreetly with gaffer tape (like those of many of his friends) - and also it would be a dream come true if he could actually go on those school trips which cost money. |

My mum was a single parent in the early 70's she worked 2 jobs paid the mortage and the hp on the car my dad took with him all she got was child benefit which in those days was only for the 1st child |
