Muffy, sadly I'm sure the head will tell you his hands are tied on the issue. They can only do so much when the government is too busy worrying about offending these neglectful parents.

my always go to school with there hairs up tight usually in a bun or tight plaits

and have been ok so far

but i do think the nitty nurse should be brought back for definate
the children have book bags that the letter cld be put in so no brown envolopes like wen i was little lol

and they wouldnt have nits now to lol

years ago a village school

got infestations of nits

time and time again

they struggled to keep

the problem under control

as soon as the nits went

they returned again

turned out the old lady

in there sweet shop was infested

and as she cuddled the children

and fussed over them

she reinfected the children

I wanted to do more than scream at them SS !!!!

I'm going to also photocopy the page from my book and show it to the headmaster tomorrow...... ask HIM if he thinks that this is progress. xx

Don't you just want to scream at people like that.

The thing that gets me is if they failed to treat a dog/cat who had fleas they could no doubt be done for neglect. Apparently children rate lower when it comes to things like these.

Good point SS. My hair is wrecked from the wretched stuff as it makes it all greasy and sticky. BUT no point sending notes home to try and educate them.......

I spoke to little ones teacher on Wednesdays parents evening about the problem....... she sent a note home advising that there is a nit prob in the class and giving directions about how to treat the problem.......

The parents in question saw the first line, screwed up the paper and lobbed it on the floor !!!!!!!

Also... If the parents did themselves as well as, these people may well be doing their children but bet they don't all think that they should do their own too.

I have heard the conditioner used neat and comed through the hair helps get rid of nits something to do with the eggs not being able to stick to the hair. I agree Mothers of school children should protest to maybe the Health Minister to bring back Nitty Nora the Bug Explora.

I could go all sciency about why the voddie would work, but everyone would fall asleep lol. Not sure about sending the kiddie off to school smelling like a pub though PMSL

Other parents aren't very vocal .....sadly...... they all admit to having the problem... but none of them want to do anything about it....... I've tried.

We all KNOW who the kids are........ they are known for this throughout the school...... BUT the other parents are concerned about repercussions as this family have a bit of a reputation (you get one in every school I guess). Personally I couldn't care less but that's just me.

I agree Lancs Lass they DO seem to be immune to some brands (thankfully some are still working though) but I try hard not to use the stuff as I do comb through and condition everyday....... also have tried every repellant known but to no avail.

The only way forward is the nit nurse. Do them all at once and the problem is solved. I'd even be prepared to pay for it out of my own pocket.... it HAS to be cheaper than what I am doing now !!!

BUT as has been said..........these days you can't be seen to be singling anyone out.......... bl**dy ridiculous.

I was tempted to use the vodka myself but I did use it for the nits....something to do with the alcohol killing off the nits. It worked too.

It would also help if ALL parents whose kids had lice were to treat them....that would also stop repeat infections.

Trouble is the nits are now 'Super Nits' and the yukky stuff doesn't work anymore.

All my children were shampooed ,conditioned and combed every night if they had them.

Only problem were the parents who didn't bother and thats when the kids caught them again.

Why dont you get a load of the parents, Muffy, and then you can all protest together? It seems to be a very serious situation, and I think it calls for action. Banners with BRING BACK THE NIT NURSE....would be apt. I would be hopping mad if it happened to me and mine... BC XX

Muffy, I hope you get some joy. I think it's disgraceful, I'm not a parent but I'd be ashamed to leave my child in that state and know that they're reinfecting everyone else they come into contact (and beyond).
