	We were engaged after three months. Our engagement on my 21st birthday, he had said shall we get engaged on your birthday? I thought the ring would be a nice pressie. After that oh started to say when we get married..........I can't ever remember him actually asking me to marry him!

	Mine proposed soon after we first met, well we had known each other 20 years before when he went out with a friend and neighbour of mine, but had only recently met up again, both single. He said, Can I be your first husband? I said Ask me in ten years time! Thank goodness he has a rubbish memory cos if he had asked in 2006 I would have said No. In fact, now I think about it he has said over the last few years, are we going to get married and I just pmsl and say no way! 	OH proposed on a weekend away near Stonehenge. It was the first time he had managed to get over to the UK as he was stationed in Korea for a number of years. He deff has a way with words, first time I had had something so romantic said to me in person!!!

	We sort of drifted into being a couple at school a few of us used to hang out,one by one the others left but we stayed together,looking at some furniture shops one day he said is that the sort of stuff we are having when we get married, so I said yes,engagement ring cost £14=10 shillings (old money)had a few more since then!!

	In a local nightclub owned by a famous telly person of the time. (Clue: Cannon & Ball!!!!!!) He did the asking over the DJ console then got the autograph from the famous person and gave it to me. Romantic Eh!! Did get a glass of champers though

Member Since: March 2006 Posts: 456 Send Message	About three weeks after meeting, the first hint about us getting married was at a party on board an RN minesweeper in Malta, then the real proposal came shortly afterwards on a balcony overlooking the moonlit bay of St. Julians. I kept him waiting for a week and then in the midst of a conversation in his open-topped sports car, I said I would marry him as he was driving down a hill in the middle of Sliema in Malta. He very nearly drove into a football stadium at the bottom of the hill! He and my Mum chose my engagement ring as she just 'happened' to be in the jeweller's shop when we arrived.. It is our 38th wedding anniversary this year on 08.08.08!! I hope the Chinese belief that 8 is a very lucky number is true!

	Hi Caz, my OH proposed on Xmas day, 1996 after Xmas dinner. He gae me loads of pressies with special messages on them, and the final one was a 3 diamond ring in a box, he then proposed.....very romantic..xx

	6 months after we met over a fishing rod on Hastings peir exact words 'mums not keen on us living together so shall we get hitched then' I kept wishing after 3 weeks that he would ask me to marry him but being the shy retiring girl I am wouldnt ask him. Married 11 months later d xx

	we come home one night after being to darts match and jan got down on bened knee and ask me to marry him i said yes and that was 9yrs ago coming july,they always say third time lucky for me it was Dutchxx
