My ebay account was hacked while ago although I have no idea how they did it. I never open any e mails from ebay via my inbox only via ebay but they still managed to list 95 GHD's !!

The most common way for an account to get hijacked is if someone received a "spoof" email, clicks on what appears to be an eBay link. The web site you get taken to isnt, of course, ebay and you have given your user name and password away.

Ebay have excellent members boards which are well worth looking at for tips and advice.

i personely have never heard of accounts being hijacked so i carn't help you there sorry

Can someone explain how an account gets hijacked please?

I know on another forum recently someone said that her husband had supposedly bought dozens of items that he hadnt even seen. They had a terrible time sorting it out with people saying he had reneged on the deals but he hadnt even bought these things. How can someone take over your name and details?

donna now that you have reported item as not recived you can now report them to the ebay trust and safty team.

once you opened the dispute you can keep going back on to it to look at the progress of it from there you first send message to seller and if not sorted that way you can get ebay to take the next step were they then get staff to asscess the problem and then they put a out come result on the said dispute page for you to see.
have you already tried this if not then do it know you have 90 days to do this in.

Thanks for advice but I've done both of these things. The lady at the bank said there's nothing I can do and I have reported item as not received.

just ignor it as it is more than likely a scam.
you can forward the email to ebay for them to check it out.

open and item not recived dispute with ebay and then contact your bank for them to claim the money back as they will know what account it's gone into.

Just bored and browsing through message centre (never looked b4 as usually searching through censuses etc) and noticed there seems be a lot of good advice about ebay.
I bought an item 3 wks ago and sent a personal cheque as the seller didn't use paypal. I received e-mails f rom the seller saying they hadn't received my cheque but not to worry as the post was slow there (?) and they were going away for the coming weekend. I e-mailed constantly checking whether they'd received it yet but got no reply. I checked my account and the cheque had been banked (£30)and I have never got my item. My e-mails were ignored by the seller.
I reported it to ebay as item not received, the contact info of seller they gave me isn't genuine and I've heard nothing from ebay since.
Any suggestions?
Would appreciate help as I'm unsure what to do next.

I had an email today accusing me of not supplying a laptop to a buyer on ebay! I don't know what to do about it, I haven't actually opened it as such, but assumed it was a scam..... what do you reckon I should do please? can anyone give me some advice?

Yes, go to A-Z help. But that means you cant buy or sell again unless you start up a new account, and you'll lose your feedback....dont let one weird seller put you off!

I went on the ebay forum earlier for advice on this - there was one person on there who was dreadful, saying that Id obviously bought on impulse and then came on looking for a way out of completing the contract. Honestly I could cry.

If you dont want to pay, they cant make you. You might get an unpaid item strike, but thats nothing. Dont risk doing anything youre not happy with, and take it from me, Ive got a feedback of 1252, there are loads of dodgy people out there. If they give you negative, give them negative!! They probably wont, cos they know theyre in line for a negative.
I always send invoices, so thats normal, BUT its odd theres about 3 different addresses inc a foreign one! Why not report them to ebay, cos if theyre genuine, they have nothing to worry about.

yes they can send a invioce its an option you have when your a seller some sellers do it with every item they sell to make them look more profensonal and personal.

when they send an invioce they get to add a thank you to it or return instructions or anything else they might what to add.
