Puss mentioned having a candle burning over something, Well that would probably be a Wrights vapourizer. I used to use that when eldest used to suffer with croup.
Today we have Calpol, but do you remember Famel syrup? and what about Dilly Duckling cough sweets. Also Junior Disprol.

i do know that my brother does miss dad very much and he is trying to help mum by filling that void. so what the heck as long as she is happy

Hi Lubby lou.

My dad was a real sweety and loved his family to bits. He really didnt want any fuss but he suffered. he was only a small man about 5ft 4 and built like a jockey. he lost so much weight in such a short time but boy he didnt want to go!!. i think that why my bro had such a problem cos he thought he had taken dads fight from him. it was a BIG problem for bro after dad went .

i gave my bro a big talking too and thanked him for making our dads passing easier and painfree for him.

Thanks Sirley and Ann I will try the other thread I always tell GP I'm not depressed don't want pills, I just get p....d off now and again I've really nothing to get depressed over good husband and successful kids although they have had the usual break-up problems of today, no money probs can manage ok even tie a bow sometimes, don't see grandkids as often as I'd like but it's awkward when parents are working.

i come to do the same withmy dad. hedid not want to go in hospital or have help from the macmillen nurses who camr to his home he used to send them away politly. even when i took him to christies hospital he would never take advice he just wanted to styay safe in his own home. .he did die at home and i am so proud of him and the courage he had to fulfil what he wanted to do.dad had pain relief to help him, ther nurses attended his funeral and praised his willingness to cope in the best wat he wanted to. i do miss him and love him dearly and i hope that i do have his determination to do what he wanted to do and support his family to the end.

Hi Linda, Mickey Dripping--- I was always called this by my Dad and my late brother it was also my handle when we had CB's so all the family still know me by this as to where it comes from, I've no idea. When I was very little an uncle used to call me Jinny Pink hair because my hair was nearly white even then no I'm not an albino!!!.

Sorry Mickey .my posting over ran yours.

We had the same with our Pops in 1975 he had cancer and was in terrible pain for the last week of his life. Mum kept her word and hadhim at home cos he didnt want to die in Hospital and near the end one of my brothers discussed with Doctor the best way to keep him comfortable and to let him pass with dignity. brother later had a big problem with himself in agreeing to let him be dosed with diamorphine which calmed him and let his body pass peacefully. he felt that he had agreed to euthanasia in some way.

he had to have counselling to accept that he had agreed for dad to be made comfortable and that it would be the last thing a Doc would do to overdose a patient.

my mother used to give me some stuff called Parishes Food which was supposed to build me up - she thought I was too thin. Problem was that it should have been taken with a straw because it damaged the enamel on your teeth. Result was that when I was 22 I had to have all my teeth extracted!!

Mickey Drippin' - listen hun, perhaps you should take a look at our depression/anxiety thread - we always have room for more on it and it has been of enormous help and comfort to many people suffering from all sorts of problems - we all help each other on it. Do pop over, you would be really wecome I assure you
