We had them in our gardens in Scotland..... dreadful creatures they are.

We had a Burn at the bottom of our street
so they were well catered for....
food and water on tap for the filthy creatures.
We used to buy Warfarin for them..... they loved it...
oh the thought and the memory is giving me the shivers.

Haven't seen ours lately even thos some bird food fell onto the floor, it laid there all day, I left it on purpose to see if he came out.
Today when I went out I saw a headless body of a rat in the road, was horrible. Maybe Ratty went into one of the gardens where there are dogs? Don't know how it ended up in the road tho - it didn't look squashed.

We just added more poison to the trap the rat man left before.

trouble with poisoning pests, is that other innocent animals/birds may eat the corpses.......

We have one that seems immune to all the poisons we have put down, he scraps grass and soil into the trap and seems to be scooting through it. He has been coming out onto the lawn and finding scraps dropped from bird table for over a year now, getting a bit bigger but seems to be alone, maybe he is gay? O.h. keeps filling in the holes he digs under the shed etc but nothing deters him, he is so cheeky. I don't like mice and rats but this one seems to want to stick around.
Shame you couldn't kill it outright, I hate to see any creature suffer.

Julia, I was in a total panic when I saw mice on my patio. Silly me, I thought they were little birds eating the birdseed which had fallen on the ground! Anyway had to stop feeding birds for a few days and now I sweep up every night. I used to love shooting when I was younger, used to compete with my brothers:-))
