I was diagnosed with VERY high cholesterol about nine years ago. Kept thinking I was having heart attacks and passing out in restaurants - eventually blood tests revealed cholesterol level at over 9 - too high. Pleaded with my GP not to give me medication, I eat all the wrong sorts of things I said, I'll have a go over the next month and then we can test it again. Cut out everything I should not eat and lo and behold it weas tested again to reveal a level of 11.5!! Obviously not my diet then, but what is called "familial" - parents probably had high cholesterol but this was never diagnosed as far as I am aware. Am now on statins and level is around 5.

See your GP and check if it is a problem with your levels. He may refer you to a dietician as it is possible that your lifestyle is not what you think it is.

If your GP is concerned then there is medication which will help.

Does anyone else have a problem with it?

I have been for my yearly health check and I am very healthy apart from my cholesterol level, To be honest I don't understand it I eat healthy,I exercise daily,I dont smoke.........

what more can I do??

I even started using Benecol to see if it reduced it,It didnt,Infact it went up:-(

Im now just thinking, this is heredity.
