i know. i just had my 2nd child 12wks ago. but 3wks before i was rushed to hosp by ambulance with severe stomach cramps and being sick with the pain. i am convinced it was labour and so were the paramedics they timed them as just under evry 2 mins. when i got to hospital they pumped me full of fluids. this is what they're supposed to do to stop an early labour. they kept saying they couldnt feel any contractions although in my files they showed up clearly on ctg's.so as far as i'm concerned i was in labour and because they were understaffed they stopped my labour, following this wknd in hospital i was admitted 3 further times within 2wks. finally i opted for a c-section after having 1 1st time round. it just goes to show its all about money and staff not service as it should be.
oh...thats me had my rant now folks sorry.

GREAT WESTERN HOSPITAL IN SWINDON. it was fatal.so sad.midwifes need more practical experience before they qualify its absolutely disgusting.the lady didn't even need the epidural, relatives thought she was just getting a saline drip in her arm. how many more mistakes are going to be made before somethings done.

For anyone who's pregnant or planning a baby in the future, the best advice I could give is don't lay down, as it goes against gravity and youre pushing against a bone. Stand up for as long as poss, wiggle your hips in a big circle (draw the curtains first!) and visualise your baby being born. Concentrate on proper breathing too. Worked for me 3 times!

Twinklyoceanblue Report 5 Feb 2008 17:30

I don't have children so don't know the first thing about labour (thank god after listening to some of your experiences!) but thanks for sharing...I know its just a case of sit and wait xx

sorry if i cause any worry to the person who posted this. but has anyone actually saw the news today about the lady who recieved an epidural in her hand instead of her back. it is an absolute disgrace for the nhs. they want to get things sorted out NOW!!!

Im from Mansfield, my sister had all her 3 at the Queens Medical centre too. She didnt have bad experiences to be honest, but I had my daughter at Walsgrave hospital in Coventry and it was a nightmare. They refused to believe I was in labour, sent my husband home, and stuck me on a ward. I was 10cm dilated and ready to deliver my baby by myself with no help. I begged them to listen to me, so after tutting and sighing, they took me down to the delivery room, and said 'Oh Lord, youre ready to deliver!' Erm...yes, thats what Id been saying all along. So baby Katia was born with no pain relief, as there wasnt time. She had the cord round her neck twice, so Im so lucky that I didnt deliver her on my own. Afterwards I had a high temperature and collapsed from lack of blood, was put on a drip, but still discharged 10am the next morning! Whats happened to good old fashioned midwifery care?

I appreciate that uggers but they told her they would induce her today but then were too busy...she is only young and quite shy so just does as she is told
