Regards handmade cards - yes they can be very nice, but..I had one once from a guy who was a bit 'odd' in an attractive sort of way...it was all mythological nymph-like maidens and gushing poetry. I didn't know whether to laugh or run a mile!!! |

years now since we have sent each other cards. When we were younger we did, because everyone did, it was the thing to do. But never presents. commercialisation has spoiled the element of romance. Usually my OH will try to bring on a pot of miniature daffodils to bring in on valentines day. But I think the price of flowers around valentine's day is disgusting and so unfair to youngsters who do still like to celebrate. |

Only jesting of course....but Valentine Day is a rip off, we dont even exchange cards and although we do normally go out for dinner on thursday evening on the 14th we will sit at home with spag bol like lady and the tramp |

My daughter was working in japan last year and her students told her they have two valentines days. The girls send a card to the boy they like on Feb 14th , then a month later if he likes the girl he sends her a card and a small gift like chocolate. But they said the girls don't want this, they are wanting more and more expensive gifts now. Carole x |
