Deaths can usually be found in the US at the Social Securty Death Index: http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb(.)com/ *Remember to remove the ( ) from the address. If the person had a social security number their death would be listed here. Social Security numbers were introduced by the Social Security Act of 1935.....anyone working at that time had a SS number. Those who didn't, you may not find in the Death Index. Now adays, SS # are issued at time of birth so everyone has one. As for births, in order to get a birth certificate you would need to know where a person was born to apply for a copy of ther certification. Try the LDS site for older births.....(not always accurate but may steer you in the right direction.) That site address is: www.familysearch(.)org The living can usually be found on one of the free online telephone directories if the person has a publicly listed telephone number: www.switchboad(.)com or www.anywho(.)com Also: www.ussearch(.)com - This site is free for the initial name and state search and charges a small fee for additonal information.....a great site when you run out of the free site options. Judy, the birth i'm looking for is Pauline Uren around the early 1920's in Akron,Ohio.I'm also looking for her death but first need to find out if she ever married. the other death is for Ethel Uren again in Ohio,i've found her husbands death in 1971 but no luck for Ethel, Karen |

Crista, no i haven't looked on the census, where do i find it? this is my first try at finding someone in the US so i don't really know whats available. Ethels parents were Alma and Edward Beard, they were from cornwall and Ethel went to the US with her husband in the early 20's.Paulines parents were Samuel and Ethel Uren, Karen |

Crista,i think you've found them, ethel was born in 1902 and her husband samuel 1899 they were from st ives.i estimated pauline was born in the early 20's as i have ethels grandfathers funeral notice (1924) which says from ethel, sam and little paula. thanks karen |

Karen, It's odd that Paula is mentioned because the census says she was 4. If that is correct she wouldn't be alive in 1924. Here's Samuel's entry in the Social Security Death Index. Samuel Uren b. 3 Jun 1899 d. Jan 1971 in Medina, Medina, Ohio SSN 293-20-6965 Crista |
