Strictly speaking it is illegal as you probably realise plus you wont be able to register it for updates and other info. The newest FT2005 is available for about £29 at PC World and Amazon at the moment - is probably more up to date that your friends and you will have freedom of all the facilities.

I think what you are suggesting is illegal!!! Anne

not only that, but the s/w knows* its already been installed - it wont launch. You can buy FTM2005 from the Ancestry site at the moment for $21 - plus about $10 for postage - at todays exchange rate its still less than £20, and only takes 3 or 4 days to come.... *dont ask ...

My Family Tree Maker 2005 arrived in the post last weekend. Apart from teething troubles, which Heather and another GR member kindly helped me out with I am thrilled with it and only wish I had purchased it sooner, easy to use and loads of information easily available to search for. Highly recommend you buying it. Elizabeth

Sometimes their online offers are cheaper than in the shop, but Yvonne sounds like me - 'want it NOW'. Just had quick look at Amazon - they have the deluxe version (does that have some extra cds or something?) for £29.99. Good luck. I wish I knew what all the buttons and bells did on mine - so much on there if only I knew it!

As others have pointed out it's ilegall to install it on more then one PC especially if the other PC is somebody elses. I think the best place to buy it from is www(.)backtoroots(.)co(.)uk Telephone Mike or Jackie and tell them I sent you and that you are a member of GR, they might knock a bit off, you can order and pay by credit card over the phone, why go out in the snow, you only want the single program CD not the one with all the extra disks. Telephone them on 01453 821300 Price for GR members is £29-00 inc. P&P and they give free unlimited telephone support. Regards Ron www(.)genealogyprinters(.)com

I have a question about FTM too and it seemd pointles starting a new thread so please can I ask it here? Someone mentioned the delux version. What is the difference please, and is it worth the extra money (I see it is more disks) Thanks Claire xx

Ron

Ron Report 24 Feb 2005 16:05

The 'De-Luxe' version comes with extra various data disks, they are mostly American orientated, there is some U.K. data but like all other general bundled Data CD's treat it with caution as to it's authenticity. I genuinely believe it's not worth the extra costs involved. Regards Ron www(.)genealogyprinters(.)com Roll on tomorrow afternoon we're off on a cruise. :0)))))))

My deluxe version discs are UK! There are five of them: Extracts from 1851 census (on which I found some of my rellies!) Scottish Parish Records English Parish Records British Chancery vol 1 British Chancery vol 2 The deluxe version only cost me £4 more than standard so I thought it would be worth it, especially as I have given the Scottish one to a friend who has Scottish ancestors (I don't), so it was well worth it. Ron And there was I thinking about buying one of your charts from EBay.....If you can afford a cruise you can do without my pathetic order (plus p&p) But might reconsider if you find room in your suitcase for little me.....LOL Have a good time :) Chris

Buy the chart from our website, some of them are cheaper on there :0))))). Mind you you won't get it now until we re-open on 7th March. It's only a Canary Islands, Thompson, 7 night cruise, about £1300 for me and the gaffer, all inclusive, what do you think we are, made o' money :0)))) It's a bit warmer there, 66 degrees at the moment.
