I'm trying to find the death of a William John Mildenhall with no succuss. I know he died sometime between 1897 and 1901 as his wife was listed as widowed in the 1901 census. If there is no record of his death in the UK do I assume he died abroad perhaps at war! Let me know your thoughts and any websites where I could locate his death. Fern. |

What happened in 1897 that you know he was alive? A birth of a child maybe? I'm just thinking if it's because he's a father on a marriage certificate that doesn't necessarily mean he was alive. When was he born? to determine age at death Regards Sam |

Where was William in 1897 and how old was he? Could his names have been reversed so that he was registered John William perhaps? |

I just checked Ancestry...Was that HIS marriage in 1897? Then I guess he was alive...LOL! He married Amelia Hirst? Amelia Mildenhall is widowed and 22yrs old in 1901 |

Boar War in South Africa 1901 perhaps. Are you totally sure you cant find a death? Only a few years to search, try 1837online or family relatives perhaps. Dont assume you know where he died. People have to be registered where they die not where they live. Margaret |

It looks like Amelia married again in March Q. 1902, from freebmd site. Could either of her marriage certificates give a clue re. William John's occupation? That might help you to know whether or not to search the GRO overseas lists. Oh, Looks like Lunar has found him. |

I have absolutly no idea where Mooltan is but that's what the image said so I can't give you any more than that except that it was in the GRO ARMY DEATH INDICES (1881 to 1955). |
