Im searching for my Vince family but the name has so many different interpretations its driving me mad. Found some of them in 1881 census under Vince, some under Vance and 1901 census under Voice. Cant find any in 1891 and I feel they may be under another misspelt name. Ive tried every different way of spelling it I can think of and trawled thru thousands of different names but I feel they are out there somewhere, I just need to find them. I have John and Elizabeth parents, children David,Margaret/Elizabeth(she changes her name!)Edward,Walter,Amelia,Emma and Ethel. They were all born Paddington/Kilburn/Holborn area Middlesex and David my g grandad was born abt 1878. If anyone has any ideas I would very much appreciate it. Carole xx

Try putting David in christian name box with no surname, year of birth 1878 and place of birth Willesden and see what you think :-) I think there's a likely entry there.

Yes that's the entry I spotted - its definitely a B on the image - do you think someone had a head cold when they gave the details?! All the younger children appear on the next page.

Margaret,no she doesnt appear to be one of mine! Isnt it amazing how a surname goes from Vince to Vance to Voice to Bence! And Margaret to Elizabeth to Harriett. People on here are wonderful, I never would have found them without help. Love Carole xx

Susanne Report 20 Apr 2005 11:08

Susanne Thanks for that. On the 1881 census shes Margaret C or E, but of course the person who wrote it down could have misheard. While Ive been trying to find them Ive come across some weird and wonderful names that cant possibly be right no wonder we have a job finding ppl. Love C xx
