Looking for death of William Knott b1829 Westminster...father of frank. In 1901 he was at Forburg Rd Nth Hackney....census states part of hamford? Hills at St Thomas the Apostle....would it stand to reason he would have been buried (or service) at that parish? Or one within a certain radius? I have a possible burial/grave of him at Abney park Cemetery...is that around where they were living? Advice appreciated leeanne

The death reg might have been done by one of his rellies that you know about. You would have to order the cert to find out. If you are trying to trace his burial then you would need the date of death first usually. What's this you mention about a possible burial record??? Can it be tied to this 1918 date at all?? Merry

Hamford Hills is probably Stamford Hill, just north of Stoke Newington. Stamford Hill and Stoke Newington are both part of the London Borough of Hackney. North Hackney is a subdistrict of Hackney registration district: Created 1st July 1837. In Middlesex until 1889. Sub-districts : Central Hackney; Hackney; North Hackney; South Hackney; South East Hackney; South West Hackney; Stamford Hill; Stoke Newington; West Hackney. GRO volumes : III (1837-51); 1b (1852-1930). Hackney, Stoke Newington. Registers now in Hackney district. nell

So this is the death reg for the burial you have: Deaths Jun 1909 KNOTT William 78 Shoreditch 1c 50 I can't think what else to do except buy the death certs (one at a time). The 1918 one is right for age and place and this one (above) is slightly out. I expect there are others too - do you know he didn't go to live somewhere else??!! Some of my London rellies went to live in Norfolk at the last minute!! Merry
