Yep, Speakman Smith Johnson. 1881 & 1891. He was in Scotland for the 1861. (The only entry !) No trace in Lancashire 1841 or 1851 ... but I expected that ! Dissappears completely in 1871 (could be in Ireland) Died 1894. Elaine ;-)

Ephraim Tarven, born in Steeple Bumpstead, Essex. I was very disappointed when I discovered that he was in fact my great grandmother's step-father, and not a blood relative.

I have a great great grandmother called Abada a very unusual name but she's been is transcribed on virtually every census. Abada PARKER instead of PARKES in 1851 Abuda BLOCK for BLACK on 1861, Abada Polack (still Black) in 1871, in 1891 she is Leason and 1901 Leeson one must be wrong. i spent ages looking for my paternal great granddad, who my dad insisted was called Elvin, he wasn't, but my dads uncle was. Anyway he is the one and only male Elvin Martin, but i did find a female one, thogh not related as far as I can see.

I think I've got the only Allinson Grainger, but he's usually down as Allison.... found his daughter Phoebe as Clabe in 1851! Helen

I have the only Abiel Callow on ancestry, however she is only on 1861 as she is usually mistranscribed as Alice. Liz

Hi Nell My great grandfather Michael Haxby was an absolute dream - the only one for 1861 through to 1901. He was mistranscribed on 1871 as Micheal but who cares! In fact the whole Haxby family were by far the easiest but I deserved it after the runaround I had with another great grandfather! Debby

Jeremiah Love appears on every census 1851 to 1891, and is the only person with his name each time. 1901 spoils it, coz he's mistranscribed! Merry

In my husband's family - Alfred Fillis Grist - there is only him and his father!! and another one - Mehetabel Musson - Yes!! If only they were all that easy!! lol Tammy

My great great Grandfather Oscar Norton is the only one on the 1881 census. and niether are an unusual name

...well have you ever had a census whack? ie you put in a name and there's only one entry? I have this with my Norfolk grandfather Jeuel Gray and my Cornish great-great-grandmother Honor Broad and my Warwickshire great-great-grandfather Emmets Matthews. Makes up for all the thousands of John Matthews and William Williams and Susan Grays I've had to trawl through! nell
