Does that mean you do not know the twins names? If that's the case then you're a bit stuck Sam

Angie, was the mother married? If yes I have got two girls born Preston, surname Walmsley, but mother's maiden name is Jones. I was assuming that Walmsley would be surname & maiden name. I have only checked 1925 Sam P.S just re read your post, do you even know the sex of these twins?

my friend doesnt even know if they were male or female the story goes like this his nan had 1 child and nearly died through child birth so his grandad refused to go near the nan again she got pregnant by some one else and the grandad refused to bring up another mans children so she was sent away to give birth and handed the twins over for adoption and thats all he knows but he would love to find out what happend to them a bit of a quest i know angie xx

Not Jones again Angela (see Sammy's post). What a sad story....... Merry

Mmm... more difficult than I thought in that case, a maiden name would be a big help, if it IS Jones then we might be on to something, but only their original birth certs. At least you would have birth names though. Legal adoptions didn't start until 1927 I believe, it is highly unlikley that you will get anywhere with this, but you could put a message on the trying to find board, if you have names Sam

Ahh....I've only just realised you are the Jones lady!!! I'll pm the details if you'd rather, or shall I post here? Sam

Can you find out the details of the one child that was born to the married couple?? Presumably the subsequent twins would have the same family surname and same mother's maiden name? Merry

Angela- Jut so that you, and your friend are aware, You ill be extremely lucky (and thats all it will be) to be able to trace these two. Adoption was not formalised until later and they may have simply been given away. Please dont get her hopes of finding them or their descendants too high

Sorry to be dumb -where is Preston?

Geraldine

Geraldine Report 20 Nov 2005 01:32

Preston is on the road to Blackpool in Lancashire LoL Ang good look with your search but I think it's a very long shot as Ada and Ivy will be 80 (what lovely old names) now and born before formal adoption days. But you never know your luck in the big city :-)
