what is it about and does anyone have access to the information on it? Ive found the names that I want but cannot get any more information from the screen.

Hi Candice. Censuses started in 1841 and they are taken every 10 years from then on. The ones that are available are from 1841-1901. They state all the people that lived in the household. Their ages and place of birth. Also occupations. If you put the names you are looking for and any other info you may have on them i will have a look for you. Regards. Alyson

i put in the date as them being 10 years old and put the range from 20 +/-. Ive found them on there but cannot get the information

it says elizabeth is 5 years old and david ward is 1 years old and lives in ince, lancs

Candice I think that these are the ones, from the 1901 census: 3 Spring Street, Wigan Lancashire: William Nolan 34 Ince, Lancashire Boarder Margaret Nolan 25 Wigan, Lancashire Elizabeth Nolan 5 Wigan, Lancashire Joseph Nolan 2 Wigan, Lancashire William is ''labourer in coal mine underground''. No relationship is given for the other 3. They are boarders in the household of a Herbert Brown. 15 Viaduct Row, Ince in Makerfield William Ward 25 St Helens, Lancashire, England Head Ann Maria A Ward 22 Ince, Lancashire, England Wife David Ward 1 Ince, Lancashire, England Son William is a coal hewer. if you are ancestry click on the blue wording where it says 1851-1901 census records then you will get their name click on a blue number to see rest of house hold on 1891 the number will be at bottem. Jeanette

Candice, Apart from 1881 census, which is free online, you personally will only have access to the census INDEX To view further details of individuals or households you need to pay, either by buying credits online, or by joining Ancestry. People on these boards are often very kind and do look ups for those of who do not belong to Ancestry. You can order census film (country wide) through your local LDS library. If you want to read census for the area in which you live, you can do this free of charge either at a large library or at the record office, but you will need to contact them first and find out what they have, and usually book a film reader. Hi Candice. You obviously KNOW that these two people married each other .... HOW ? Have you got a birth certificate of one of the children ? If so, name of child and when & where born would help you possibly locate a marriage of the parents. Can you give us these details ? You DO NEED the marriage cert, to be able to clarify WHO the fathers were, and then find them on the 1901 census. .... before we all assume the 1901 findings above are THE correct ones ! Elaine ;-) I have looked for a marriage between David Ward ~ Elizabeth Nolan between 1910-1920 (inc) .there are NO results, so they married 1921 onwards. To find the marriage now, you need to register with 1837online and trawl the indexes under the names, until you come across an entry with both surnames. £5 will get you started and will enable you to search every qtr of every year and cover a five year period (eg. 1921 - 1926)
