Got him. Jessie Willis abt 1861 Uffington Berkshire England Head (Lodger) Brimscombe Cottage Coleshill Berkshire England. Have looked at image and he gives his 'Condition as to Marriage' as 'Mar' - meaning Married but there is no family with him. Joy |

girls could legally marry at 12 then so if he was in prison it wouldn't be for that There are lots of places he could be, if he wasn't at home - army, away at sea, working away? Some censuses do list prison inmates names in full, others you only get initials. |

Karen Up until 1929 girls aged 12 and boys aged 14 could marry as long as they had parental consent. When and where was Jesse born? Joy |

my great grandparents jesse and harriet willis were married in 1880 so they should show up on the 1881 census .Only harriet is there living with her parents but noted as married .She was born in sept q 1863 married in mar q 1880 and had her first child in mar q 1880 but the baby only survived 11 wks .i have realised that harriet was only 16 yrs 6 mths old when she married and had the baby . would jesse have been sent to prison because she was under age. The marriage cert states they were both of full age which was a lie . In the 1891 census they are together along with 4 more children Is there anyway i can find out if he was in prison? |
